Two Brewery Ommegang Events Coming Up, Starting Tonight!

Two events in the coming days feature New York based Brewery Ommegang.  The first is tonight, as The Wasena City Tap Room features three of the brewery’s ales, a Saison, their Abbey Dubbel, and a Tripel.  It’s unclear which Tripel will be on tap, as the brewery produces a couple different ones from time to time, but to be sure, as with all the beers Ommegang puts out, it will be tasty.  According to event information on facebook, the event will also be attended by a brewery representative and free glasses will be available for the first 100 customers, with purchase of an Ommegang ale.  The brewery’s Dubbel was one of the first Belgian style beers I personally ever tasted, and it continues to be a delicious favorite today.  If you’re familiar with the brewery, I bet you have a similar story.  If you’re not into Belgian style ales yet, this would be a solid event to attend to give some excellent examples a shot.  The event begins around six.

Next week, Blue 5 Restaurant will be at least putting on tap a beer that Ommegang has created inspired by the popular HBO series Game of Thrones.  Of course, the beer is a limited release.  Directly from the brewery’s website, the beer, called Iron Throne, is a Belgian style Blonde Ale, using a couple of different noble hops as well as a red wheat malt and pilsner malt.  The restaurant posted on their facebook page yesterday that the beer will be on tap next Wednesday.  I’m sure the restaurant will put out more information as the night gets closer.  Cheers to Belgian style ales!
